We offer a full spectrum of psychiatric services, tailored to meet your specific needs. We care for patients in our South Park offices in Charlotte as well as virtually throughout NC, SC, GA and VA.
We offer thorough, personalized psychiatric evaluations designed to provide a clear and accurate understanding of your mental health. Each assessment includes an in-depth clinical interview, a review of medical and psychological history, and the use of evidence-based diagnostic tools aligned with the latest criteria. Our goal is not just to assign a diagnosis, but to truly understand your experiences, challenges, and strengths—so we can build a thoughtful, individualized plan for care that reflects the full picture of who you are.
We offer optional cognitive and neurocognitive testing using the Creyos platform to help patients gain a deeper understanding of how their brain is functioning day to day. These interactive, science-based assessments measure areas such as attention, memory, processing speed, and executive function — the skills that guide focus, organization, and decision-making. While not required for diagnosis or treatment, this type of testing can be extremely helpful for patients with ADHD, concussion, traumatic brain injury, dementia, or cognitive changes related to anxiety or depression. The results help us personalize care, track progress over time, and support documentation for school accommodations such as 504 plans and IEPs. Assessments take about 30–45 minutes and can be completed in our Charlotte office or remotely. Cognitive testing isn’t about scores — it’s about insight. Understanding how your brain works can be the first step toward feeling and functioning your best.
We believe that the most effective treatment begins with partnership. After a comprehensive evaluation, we work closely with you to develop a treatment plan that reflects your unique goals, values, and lifestyle. This may include medication, psychotherapy, lifestyle adjustments, or other integrative approaches. We take time to explain your options, answer questions, and ensure you feel confident in the direction of your care. Your treatment plan isn’t a fixed formula—it’s a flexible roadmap that evolves with your needs and progress over time.
We provide careful, ongoing oversight of psychiatric medications with a focus on finding the most effective treatment with the fewest side effects. Medication is never a one-size-fits-all solution—our approach is personalized, measured, and rooted in clinical expertise. We take time to educate you about your options, discuss how medications work, and monitor your progress closely. If adjustments are needed, they’re made with your input and comfort in mind. Our goal is to help you feel better, think more clearly, and function more fully—without unnecessary disruption to your daily life.
We use proven therapeutic approaches and evidence-based modalities—to help you better understand patterns in your thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. Through this process, we work with you to build effective coping strategies, improve emotional regulation, and develop tools for navigating stress, relationships, and everyday challenges. Therapy is a collaborative space for insight, growth, and healing, tailored to your goals and paced at your comfort level.
At Providence Family Psychiatry, we offer select genetic and biologic tests to help guide more personalized care. GeneSight® testing looks at how your individual genetic makeup may affect your response to certain medications. This information can help Dr. Harmon choose treatments that are more likely to work well for you — and avoid those that may cause side effects or be less effective. FRAT® testing (Folate Receptor Autoantibody Test) identifies antibodies that can block the transport of folate into the brain. In some patients, especially those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or related developmental concerns, this disruption can contribute to behavioral, cognitive, or communication challenges. Understanding this pathway allows us to consider targeted treatments, such as folinic acid (leucovorin), when appropriate. These tools don’t replace clinical judgment — they enhance it. Our goal is to use the best of science to deliver truly individualized care.
